SAN JUAN RIVER FISHING REPORTS ARCHIVE - 2010 Fishing Report for April, 2010 Spring/Winter keep flip-flopping on us as Mother Nature is playing April Fools jokes. We have had snow about every third day for the past several weeks with beautiful sun-shiney days in between. The days after storms have proven to be brilliant for fish catching. Yesterday, Saturday, the fish were definety in the Easter mood - hunting eggs. We had a 22 incher, as well as several other nice fish, eat egg patterns from Texas Hole down to Three Island Run in the morning. There has been a lul in fish activity from late morning until about 1:00 p.m., then the baetis have been coming out and providing some hot action. Bead head pheasant tails in sizes 20 and 22 have been our best bet, with chocolate foam wings coming in second. Fishing Report for February, 2010 Fishing on the San Juan is hot even though it seems that Spring and Winter are dueling with no victor yet in sight. We have been doing all float trips recently, and the fishing has been fantastic with many fish over 20 inches coming to the net. Red larvae flies have been responsible for most of the rainbows while leeches in black, grey, and white have been fooling aggressive brown trout. Egg patterns, especially yellow and orange, have been producing as have midge pupae. Calls and emails have been pouring in from people looking to book spring trips, so make your reservations soon.
